Get out for a walk
A bit of light exercise can really help you think. And when you’re in Edinburgh you’re surrounded by beautiful places to stroll. Taking a wander down Princes Street could help you come up with that idea you’ve been looking for. If you’ve been stuck inside all day and could really do with some fresh air you could always head up to the iconic Arthur’s Seat.
Head to Spoon
If you’re in need of refuelling with some delicious, comforting food, Spoon in the place to head. There’s a reason it’s become so popular with students. It’s cosy and right next to the Old Collage Quad, so you can head back as soon as you’re ready. You can even carry on your research here and get your book or laptop out as you wait for your food to arrive.
Grab a coffee
A quick coffee can help to refresh your brain and keep you going, heading out to pick up your drink is even better. You can find great coffee shops around every corner of Edinburgh’s streets to perk you up. You’ve got the option to take your study materials with you too, it could be just what you need for some creative inspiration.
Visit the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art
If you could do with a distraction, trying heading to one of the city’s cultural hotspots. We suggest the Scottish National Galley of Modern Art, which houses some of the best examples of art in the country. The main collection is free to view so it’s an option your wallet and student budget will love too. If modern art isn’t your thing, the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, Museum of Scotland, and the Royal Botanic Garden are options too.
Head out for the night
Sometimes you just hit a wall and you know you’re not going to get any further. Heading for an evening out with friends to Sneaky Petes or Paradise Palms can help you unwind. Just don’t overdo it so you can get back to studying when the sun rises.
