Well done you’ve made it through your first university term. Its now time to prepare for the festivities as you pack up and head home for Christmas. But before you go be sure to make the most of your time off.
Plan your Journey
Its Christmas, which means you won’t be the only one travelling home for the holidays. Therefore, the price of train tickets will certainly put a dent in your bank account if you don’t buy them in advance. So, save money and stress buy booking your tickets in advance. Invest in a 16-25 railcard for a third off rail fares.
Avoid procrastination
Do not delay the inevitable, get as much work done as you can to eliminate having unfinished deadlines hanging over you during Christmas. Be proactive, try and complete work early so you can rest and re-energise for the next semester.
Tidy your room
There’s nothing worse than returning from a trip and smelling the remains of 2-week-old Domino’s Pizza and witnessing the chaos strewn across your desk as a result of many meltdowns. So, make sure and recycle work papers, do a quick hoover, take out your rubbish and change your bed to be rewarded with that cosy, fresh feeling when you return. Also, remember to clean out your food in the communal areas, no-one wants to discover someone else’s rotten food.
Study Materials
Although you’re taking a break from university deadlines are still looming upon return in January. Make sure to pack any books, laptop and other essentials to carry out your work.
Once you’re home
First things first, its Christmas which means the fridge will be fully-stocked with delightful treats. It would be a crime not to indulge after months of microwaved meals and Asda own brand options. Make the most of being home, spend time with friends, fill them in on your first term stories and freshers’ week that left you feeling not so fresh. Prioritise family time, you’ve been gone for 12 weeks so should have lots to catch up on.
Christmas Job
Working during the holiday season may be the last thing you want to do, but gaining some extra experience is incredible valuable for your future career. Also, it’s a chance to earn some extra pocket money.
Enjoy the downtime
After all the studying and all-nighters this break will seem well over-due. It is important to recharge after a full-on semester in order to be ready for the next.
Going home for the holidays is an exciting time, with less than a month to Christmas its time to finalise those deadlines and enjoy some much-needed down-time. Merry Christmas when it comes from all the team at City Room Rentals.
